Located near the entrance to Murchison Falls National Park, Shoebill Campsite offers unspoiled views of the blue waters of the River Nile, expansive skies, and ultimate peace and tranquility.
After a day at the falls or on a game drive through the park, you will appreciate this calm spot to relax in the seating area around the campfire, listening to the calls of hippos and watching the stars. Guests must provied their own tents.
Guests can choose to prepare their own food if they bring their equipment, or eat at the superb Nile Safari Lodge restaurant just two minutes away on foot. They also have access to the Lodge’s swimming pool overlooking the river.

As the campsite has neither electricity nor running water, it is very environmentally friendly. Nile Safari Lodge uses solar powered lighting. GeoLodges spport the local community of Mubako with evening performances by their cultural groups. Many staff are also from this community, and local laborers are employed when possible. Paper beads created as a result of the the Bead for Life project are on sale (through GeoLodges´ Earthworks Foundation)

Situated just 15 minutes from the top of the magnificent Murchison Falls, Sambiya River Lodge is the perfect location for those who want to experience the tranquility of Uganda. The Lodge’s unique charm is in the atmosphere of intimacy provided to the guests. Scattered around the peaceful gardens, Sambiya has 26 individual and family thatched cottages with en suite bathrooms, fans, screened doors and windows, mosquito nets, and a veranda to relax and enjoy the commanding views of quintessential Africa.
Ten basic bandas are also available for guest accommodation, including one en suite banda and nine with shared bathroom facilities. Bandas have fans, screened doors and windows and mosquito nets.

Red Chilli Rest Camp
Location: Inside Murchison Falls National Park
Red Chilli Rest Camp is the only budget accommodation located inside Murchison Falls National Park – and the best place to meet like-minded travellers; begin your thrilling safari; or take a launch trip to the Falls – the Nile River boat dock is right on our doorstep! Our open-sided restaurant offers great views across the river – and is a great place to relax with a chilled beer or a good book after a dusty day on safari. We also have a bonfire most evenings, and campers with their own cooking equipment are welcome to use the barbecue area.
Red Chilli three-day safaris to Murchison Falls National Park depart three times a week from Kampala, and are perfect for budget and solo travellers, as well as groups. But you don’t need to venture all the way into the park to begin your adventure – warthogs, marabou storks and baboons are frequent visitors to the camp – and at night don’t be surprised if you hear hippos grazing outside the door of your room!

Budongo Eco Lodge
Location: Budongo Central Forest Reserve, inside Murchison Falls National Park
Get away from it all at Budongo Eco Lodge! These comfortable and spacious eco-cabins are tucked away in a dark, cool forest, home to chimps, monkeys, rare bird species and tree hyraxes, providing a wonderful mix of relaxation and adventure!
While getting prepared for your tour, enjoy a cold soda, hot snack or one of our delicious chocolate brownies. Taste our excellent fresh-brewed Ugandan coffee or have dinner in the warm light of the candles at night. Our restaurant offers a variety of traditional and international meals that will be served outside on the terrace, while enjoying the magical sounds of the forest.
The visitors’ centre displays a selection of different animal skeletons, fossils and snares that were found in the forest, as well as detailed information about Budongo Forest Reserve. Our craft shop offers a small yet excellent selection of Uganda’s crafts and gifts, made by local women using natural materials with simple and colorful designs.

Budongo Eco Lodge has five self-contained cabins constructed with natural materials to blend perfectly with the forest. One is double and four are twin/triple, with a sofa bed used as a third bed. Boomu Women´s Group Bandas
Location: Between Budongo Forest Reserve and Murchison Falls National Park
Boomu Women´s Group has around 40 members from the villages of Kihaguzi and Kigaragara. These subsistence farmers had little produce left over to sell, so in 1999 the women´s group was formed, with the aim of reducing poverty and malnutrition, and providing an income for the members to be able to pay their children´s school fees.
What began as a craft group has evolved into a wonderful community tourism project, with accommodation, a restaurant, unique guided tours and a well-tended garden.
The grass-thatched bandas have been built in traditional Ugandan style for an authentic community experience. They are surrounded by beautiful tropical gardens filled with butterflies and weaver birds. Guests are welcome to relax in the gardens, visit the local community of Kigaragara and explore the craft shop. Ugandan food prepared by local women is served in the restaurant, and in the warm evenings you can relax by the open air bar under the stars.

Room Description
Boomu has seven twin bandas, one double banda and a building with two triple rooms. All have mosquito nets, electric lights (from a generator) and shared bathroom facilities.Showers are cold water tanks fitted with a shower head, and are outdoors. Jerry cans of hot water can be provided on request.
Toilets are dry eco toilets.

Responsible Travel
- Boomu has four full-time employees and many part-time staff who benefit directly from tourism. All the money from the community tour and a percentage of the turnover is put into a community fund that finances school books, soap, pencils and porridge for local children attending a nursery created by Boomu.
- Other projects that benefit from this fund are educational projects, local clinics, water access improvements, and agroforestry initiatives. Community members have also been trained in high-quality blanket weaving, which can be sold to local lodges and hotels.
