  • We believe that ecotourism in these remote areas needs to respect the culture of local communities, their modest economic means and the fragility of the environment. Providing western standards of comfort needs to be balanced with the pressure local people face in obtaining food and clean water. In designing our eco-lodges, therefore, we ensure that water consumption is reduced and waste disposal controlled, and solar power is used instead of generators.
  • As award winning pioneers in ecotourism we ensure our safaris respect the culture of local communities, the fragility of the environment and the need to use resources in a sustainable way.
  • The Volcanoes Kyambura Gorge Eco-tourism Partnership project promotes the protection of chimpanzees and creates a buffer zone between the Gorge and the local communities.

The Uganda Safari Company

Location: Throughout Uganda

All of our safaris are tailor made, and almost all are organized for private groups. We work with our clients long before they arrive in the country to ensure that we are going to give them what they want.

We ask questions, we discuss, we make suggestions. And we understand that what may be perfect for one client may not be for another. All of this may take a bit of time, but it helps us to get to know you, and it means that your safari will be designed just for you.

Our safaris range anywhere from three days to three weeks, taking in the diversity that is Uganda, from the dry vastness of Kidepo in the north, the savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth, the riparian forest and savannah valley of Semliki, the mighty Nile at Murchison Falls and the tropical rainforest of Bwindi.

We specialize in Gorilla tracking, bird watching and mountaineering. Our tours are centered on value for money, conserving the environment and supporting comminities.

Type of vehicle used:

  • Toyota Land Cruisers and Land Rovers. The vehicles are designed for safaris with plenty of leg room and two viewing hatches in the roof with padded bottoms for roof riding. Safaris shouldn’t hurt and we don’t think that being crammed into a minivan is the best way to see a country!

What We Bring To Our Safaris

  • Personal Service: We work with you to design the trip to your specifications. No scheduled departures, no lack of flexibility. This is your holiday
  • Superior Vehicles: Our vehicles are specially designed for safaris and wildlife viewing, and are regularly serviced by our full-time mechanics. We don’t think breaking down on an African roadside is an integral part of a safari…
  • Experience: We live here full-time. Most of us grew up here. But we also have lived in Europe and North America so we know what comfort and service is all about.
  • Knowledge: Our involvement with Uganda’s National Parks and its wildlife goes beyond just safaris. We are involved with day-to-day operations in Uganda’s parks and in preserving these resources for generations to come.
  • Local Know-How: Our guests travel all over the country, so we meet people from all corners of Uganda. We have access to information, stories, traditions, news, heritage, and all the little things that make a visit to a new country special.
  • Conservation: We were once awarded the special mention award at the Uganda Investment Authority ‘Investor of the Year’ award for “Outstanding Contribution to Uganda’s Conservation”.

Vehicle amenities:

  • Air conditioning, small refrigirator, 6 window seats guaranteed, roof hatches, tea, coffe, snacks and bottled water
