The Lodge is located in Ruhija amidst Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a magnificent verdant swathe across the steep slopes of the Albertine Rift Valley. This ancient rain forest is one of the few in Africa to have flourished throughout the last ice age; it is home to more than half of the world's 700 surviving mountain gorillas.

Gorilla tracking: Venture into the forest and listen to them grumble at each other and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant males.
Bird watching: The forest contains 23 endemic birds.
