Wild Frontiers

Location: Entebbe

G&C Tours is a multi-faceted organization that has been operating in Uganda for 15 years. We operate safaris for international visitors to Uganda to view the highlights such as mountain gorillas, chimpanzees and game viewing as well as tailormade tours for special interests, e.g. birding, cultural tours, etc. Our guides are some of Uganda’s best and have many years of combined experience. We have some of our own lodge and camp accommodation facilities in Bwindi and QENP and we use other accommodations best suited to guests travelling to the various areas of Uganda. We also operate boats on Lake Victoria and the Nile River at Murchison Falls where we offer guests a unique safari experience from the water.

Type of vehicle used:

  • We use Toyota landcruisers – modified for 7 seats with window access for all guests and roof hatches. All vehicles are specifically modified to our own specifications and the majority are less than 3 years old. All seats have seatbelts and high backs with headrests. All vehicles carry full comprehensive and passenger liability insurance to the highest levels and are registered fully in Uganda. The vehicles have fridges and invertor charging facilities inside and for added comfort cushions are provided for guests’ use.

Description of the types of guides used on the tours

  • Our guides are experienced – at least 6 years in the industry but many with over 10 years. They are trained with our own in-house courses – floral / faunal identification as well as outside courses for more specialist and higher level training including 4×4 driving and first aid.

Available languages: English, French. Others required are hired in specifically as the demand is low.

National Parks included in itineraries:

  • All the main ones and any others as long as security is fine

Responsible Travel

  • We use local guides
  • We use local staff – from the communities close by if possible in our camps/lodges
  • We buy as much as we can locally – supplies and infrastructure too
  • Our tours always encourage guests to do community tours and donate to organizations assisting correctly with community development rather than handing money/ items out along the way.
  • We utilize community based accommodations where appropriate – bear in mind that for the most part we deal with very high-end guests.

Volcanoes Safaris

Location: Kampala Uganda and Rwanda

Welcome to the unique world of Volcanoes Safaris! Our visionary approach to great ape eco-tourism is centered around our eco-lodges near the threatened gorilla and chimpanzee populations. We look forward to sharing this magical experience with you.

The Volcanoes Safaris Group is a unique great ape ecotourism business which was set up in Kampala, Uganda in 1997 and specializes in mountain gorilla safaris. Over the last decade, we have taken over 6,000 clients on gorilla safaris and we currently employ over 100 people globally. This track record makes us the No. 1 Gorilla Safari Company. We offer an unrivalled, integrated set of services including safaris and our own eco safari lodges; international sales offices in London and Atlanta; ecotourism partnership programs with communities and conservation organisations to give communities a stake in the development of eco-tourism; great ape ecotourism advisory services for governments and donors.

Type of vehicle used:

  • We use 4WD minibuses and Toyota Landcruisers which are comfortable, well maintained and in good condition.

Description of the types of guides used on the tours

  • The ‘Volcanoes family’ – from the guides and waitresses to the lodge managers and tour team – are committed to ensuring that clients have a distinctive and memorable experience in this frontier area of Africa. Many of our staff, drawn from different countries and ethnic groups, are from families which have survived conflict. All have benefited from Volcanoes’ extensive training program and today they manage our Uganda safaris, Rwanda safaris, Tanzania Safaris and lodges. This approach to empowering local staff is unique among leading safari companies.

Available languages: English, Frech and Local languages

National Parks included in itineraries:

  • Bwindi Impenentrable National Park
  • Mgahinga Gorilla National park
  • Queen Elizabeth National Park
  • Murchison Falls National Park
Responsible Travel
  • We believe that ecotourism in these remote areas needs to respect the culture of local communities, their modest economic means and the fragility of the environment. Providing western standards of comfort needs to be balanced with the pressure local people face in obtaining food and clean water. In designing our eco-lodges, therefore, we ensure that water consumption is reduced and waste disposal controlled, and solar power is used instead of generators.
  • As award winning pioneers in ecotourism we ensure our safaris respect the culture of local communities, the fragility of the environment and the need to use resources in a sustainable way.
  • The Volcanoes Kyambura Gorge Eco-tourism Partnership project promotes the protection of chimpanzees and creates a buffer zone between the Gorge and the local communities.

The Uganda Safari Company

Location: Throughout Uganda

All of our safaris are tailor made, and almost all are organized for private groups. We work with our clients long before they arrive in the country to ensure that we are going to give them what they want.

We ask questions, we discuss, we make suggestions. And we understand that what may be perfect for one client may not be for another. All of this may take a bit of time, but it helps us to get to know you, and it means that your safari will be designed just for you.

Our safaris range anywhere from three days to three weeks, taking in the diversity that is Uganda, from the dry vastness of Kidepo in the north, the savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth, the riparian forest and savannah valley of Semliki, the mighty Nile at Murchison Falls and the tropical rainforest of Bwindi.

We specialize in Gorilla tracking, bird watching and mountaineering. Our tours are centered on value for money, conserving the environment and supporting comminities.

Type of vehicle used:

  • Toyota Land Cruisers and Land Rovers. The vehicles are designed for safaris with plenty of leg room and two viewing hatches in the roof with padded bottoms for roof riding. Safaris shouldn’t hurt and we don’t think that being crammed into a minivan is the best way to see a country!

What We Bring To Our Safaris

  • Personal Service: We work with you to design the trip to your specifications. No scheduled departures, no lack of flexibility. This is your holiday
  • Superior Vehicles: Our vehicles are specially designed for safaris and wildlife viewing, and are regularly serviced by our full-time mechanics. We don’t think breaking down on an African roadside is an integral part of a safari…
  • Experience: We live here full-time. Most of us grew up here. But we also have lived in Europe and North America so we know what comfort and service is all about.
  • Knowledge: Our involvement with Uganda’s National Parks and its wildlife goes beyond just safaris. We are involved with day-to-day operations in Uganda’s parks and in preserving these resources for generations to come.
  • Local Know-How: Our guests travel all over the country, so we meet people from all corners of Uganda. We have access to information, stories, traditions, news, heritage, and all the little things that make a visit to a new country special.
  • Conservation: We were once awarded the special mention award at the Uganda Investment Authority ‘Investor of the Year’ award for “Outstanding Contribution to Uganda’s Conservation”.

Vehicle amenities:

  • Air conditioning, small refrigirator, 6 window seats guaranteed, roof hatches, tea, coffe, snacks and bottled water

  • English speaking safari guides
